Chancellery participates in signing ceremony of the donation certificate of the State of Qatar for the reconstruction of the town of Santa Olga

On Thursday, September 28, in the meeting room of the Regional Council of the Maule, the Ambassador of Qatar in Argentina and concurrent in Chile, Fahad Bin Ibrahim Al Mana; and the Director General of Public Works, Juan Manuel Sánchez, signed the act of donation of $5 million dollars from the State Fund of Qatar to the Ministry of Public Works, resources for the reconstruction of the Rural Drinking Water System (APR) in the towns of Santa Olga, Los Aromos y Altos de Morán.

The opportunity was attended by the Undersecretary of Public Works, Sergio Galilea; the Regional Intendant of Maule, Pablo Meza; the Consul of Qatar for Argentina and Chile, Salman Al Khulaifi; the Mayor of Constitution, Carlos Valenzuela; deputies Jorge Tarud and Germán Verdugo; governors, seremis and heads of service of the Maule. For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by the Chief of Staff of the Under-Secretary, Ambassador Mauricio Hurtado; and the Deputy Director of Regional Coordination, Carlos Núñez.

Ambassador Hurtado highlighted the efforts made by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Jean Paul Tarud, in the materialization of this significant contribution to the localities affected by the forest fires of January and February 2017, as well as those of our Embassy in Argentina for the coordination with the diplomatic representation of Qatar concurrent from Buenos Aires.

On behalf of the inhabitants of the town of Santa Olga, the President of the APR Cooperative of Santa Olga, Patricia Chávez, thanked the State of Qatar for the donation.
