Chile and Jamaica strengthen Bilateral Relation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, accompanied the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, during the official visit of the Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, to Chile.

After a bilateral meeting, both authorities took part in the extended meeting with the delegations, where they discussed issues related to commerce, 2030 Agenda and Our ocean. Environment and Climate Change, amongst others.

On behalf of Chile were present Chancellor Muñoz; the Minister of Sports, Pablo Squella; the Director General of Foreign Policy, Milenko Skoknic; the Director General of International Economic Relations, Pablo Urria; the Chancellery's Director of North America, Javier Becker; and the Ambassador of Chile in Jamaica, Eduardo Bonilla.

The Jamaican delegation included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Kamina Johnson-Smith; the Plenipotentiary Ambassador for Economic Affairs, Nigel Clarke; the Ambassador of Jamaica in Chile, Alison Stone Roofe; the Director of Bilateral Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Shorna-Kay Richards; and the personal assistant to Prime Minister, Kimberly McLeod.

During the encounter, both chancellors signed an Understanding Memorandum between the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to exchange experiences and encourage bilateral and regional commerce; as well as a Bilateral Cooperation Agreement in the field of Sports, between the Jamaican and Chilean government, that has the purpose of promoting physical activity amongst the young people of both countries.
