María Inés Ruz appointed next Ambassador of Chile to El Salvador

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, informed  that the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet has appointed María Inés Ruz as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Chile to El Salvador, a country which has already given its agreement.

Ambassador Ruz is a Bachelor of Journalism from Havana University, Master of International Studies from the Institute for International Studies at the University of Chile and Diploma Holder in International Economic Relations from Universidad Mayor and the Ibero-American-Europe University Network.

The future representative of Chile to El Salvador was international consultant to the Ministry of Defense. From that position, she played an active role in launching the Southern Cross Combined Force; in the coordination of the Ministries of Defense of Latin-American countries participating in the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti; and as part of the group of experts that worked out the statutes of the South-American Defense Council.

She was an analyst at the Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the Development of Extreme Zones.

Ambassador Ruz currently works as Professor at several colleges and universities; as Gender Consultant for the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) and for the Security and Defense Network of Latin America (RESDAL); and as Analyst for the ProyectAmerica Southern Observatory.
