President Bachelet appoints new Ambassadors

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, reported that President Michelle Bachelet appointed two new Ambassadors. They are: the director of Multilateral Policy, Hugo Ignacio Llanos Mardones, and the current Chilean General Consul in Los Angeles, United States, Jorge Tagle Canelo.

Hugo Ignacio Llanos Mardones

Lawyer and Bachelor in Law from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chle. He graduated from "Andres Bello" Diplomatic Academy and he has a PhD in International Public Law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies from the University of Geneva. He has also been a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School.

He has worked at the Chilean Permanent Mission in front of the International Agencies with headquarters in Geneva, at the Chilean Embassy in the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom and at the Chilean Permanent Mission in the United Nations, New York.

He has served as Deputy Permanent Representative in front of the Maritime International Organization and Chilean Political Coordinator in the United Nations Security Council.

Within the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Santiago, he has been Head of the United Nations Department and Head of the Security Council Unit. Since July 2015, he has worked as Director of Multilateral Policy.

Jose Tagle Canelo

Lawyer and Bachelor in Law from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He graduated from "Andres Bello" Diplomatic Academy.

He has fulfilled duties in the Chilean Embassies of Lebanon, Italy, United Kingdom and Turkey. He has also worked in the Chilean Mission in front of European Union and the United Nations in New York. He served as Councillor for the Presidential Office of the 67th United Nations General Assembly.

Within the Ministry in Santiago, he has worked in the Department of the American States Organization, the Legal Department, has been the deputy director of Human Rights and Head of the Security Council Unit. Since November 2014 he has served as the Chilean General Consul in Los Angeles. His new duties will be announced promptly.
